Wednesday Walks - May 2018

NUMBER 1 WALKS START AT 10.00 a.m. - ALL OTHER WALKS START AT 10.30 a.m. UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED.

There will be a coffee break and a lunch break so you will need sandwiches and a flask.  Please make sure you have adequate water with you, especially during hot weather.

2nd MAY

(1) TODMORDEN LINEAR – 10 Miles
Cars to A 646 layby. GR 889 270.
A linear walk to Todmorden, returning by bus, bring your bus pass. Thieveley Pike, Holme Chapel, Pudsey, Whirlaw, Hole Bottom, Todmorden.

(2) WARTON CRAG – 10 Miles
Cars to car park around the corner from George Washington Pub, LA5 9PJ GR SD 498 724.
Walk: Warton, Warton Crag, Silverdale, Hawes Water, Yealand Storrs, Leighton Hall and return.

(3) HALL’ITH WOOD – 7 Miles
MP Toby Carvery Watermillock, Crompton Way, Astley Bridge, PC BL1 8TJ GR SD 719 115.
A walk in the area

(4) WHITE COPPICE ROUND – 5/6 Miles
Meet at White Coppice Cricket Ground, sign-posted off A 674. PR6 9DE.
White Coppice, The Goit, Wheelton Plantation, Brinscall, White Coppice Farm.

Haw Crag, Kirkby Malham, Otterburn, Bell Busk.

(2) NORTH BOLTON RAMBLE (Manchester Walking Festival) – 9/10 Miles
Park at Ouzel Nest car park, Chapeltown Road BL7 9AJ GR SD 729 141. A leader will meet train travellers at Bromley Cross Station at 10.30am. When the train is due to arrive.
Walk: Jumbles, Turton Bottoms, Witton Weavers Way, Whittle Hill, Longworth Clough, Dunscar and Last Drop.

(3) A WALK IN THE PARKS – 7 Miles

Doffcocker Lodge,  Ladybridge,  Haslam Park,  Queen’s Park with cafe

(4) CANALS AND BRIDGES: THINK VENICE (Manchester Walking Festival) - 5/6 Miles
Meet at Moses Gate CP. BL4 3DN.
Walk to Ringley Woods using Manchester, Bolton, Bury canal network and bridges Wilson, Sion and Meccano.

23rd MAY

(1) HIGH SAWREY SIGHTS – 10 Miles
Cars to Braithwaite Hall CP opp Cuckoo Brow Inn, High Sawrey.  SD 378 594. £2 car park fee.
Wise Een Tarn, Highs Moss, Latterbarrow Fell, Wray Castle, High Blind Howe, Low Pate Cray.

(2) CHIPPING – 8.5 Miles
Cars to car park in Chipping ( small charge) BB7 2RA  GR SD 665 215
Walk: Dinkling Green, Hodder Valley and return

(3) LOSTOCK AND ITS LOCALE – 7 Miles

(4) MANCHESTER TRAIL – 5 Miles
Walking gear not necessary. Meet at Bolton Station for 9.56 train for Piccadilly.
Piccadilly village, Ashton Canal, Islington, Rochdale Canal, Duke’s 92 wine bar for lunch, Castlefield Fort, Liverpool Street station, back to Deansgate
