6TH MARCH

(1) TURTON BOTTOMS – 11 Miles
Cars to CP at rear of Barlow Institute, Edgworth. SD 742 166
Walk – Bradshaw Brook, Turton Bottoms, Jumbles, Affetside, Castle Farm, Longsight Park, Horrobin Fold, Chapeltown, Wayoh Dam.

(2) HISTORIC WESTHOUGHTON – 8 Miles
Cars to: Lower CP off Cricketer’s Way, down side of Chinese Restaurant, not opposite shops. Turn at traffic lights at Sainsbury’s. BL5 3AJ, GR SD 653 057.
Walk – Westhoughton, Dobb Brow, Borsdane Wood, Top Lock, Borsdane Wood, Golf Club and return.

(3) CLOUGHS AND FARMS – 7 Miles
MP Doffcocker Lodge car park GR. PC BL1 5SL
A walk round the cloughs and farms of Smithills.

(4) DISCOVERING DEANE – 5 Miles
Meet at Heaton Fold Garden Centre car park, Overdale Drive, off Chorley New Road, Bolton. Park at the far end of the car park. GR SD 694 087; BL1 5BU.
Walk – Middlebrook, Haslam Park, Queens Park.

13TH MARCH

(1) STOODLEY PIKE – 10 Miles
Cars to picnic area CP on A646 on left side approx. 1.5 miles beyond Todmorden. GR 954 247.
Walk – Withins Gate, Withins Clough Road, Cragg Vale, Spring Wood, Stoodley Pike

(2) LYME PARK – 9/10 Miles
Cars to: Nelson Pit Visitors Centre, main car park, Lyme Road, Poynton, Cheshire, SK12 1TH, GR SJ 944 833, small fee £2.50.
Walk – Bow Stones, Lyme Hall, The Cage, Macclesfield Canal, Middlewood Way and return.

(3) KNOTT END CIRCULAR – 7 Miles
MP Knott End car park Bourne May Road PC FY6 0EA, GR SD 346 484
Walk – Esplanade, Pilling Pig route, fishing lakes, Barnaby Sands, Wyre Way, Hackenshall Hall, Knott End Golf course and return.

(4) AN ANGLEZARKE ROUND – 6 Miles
Meet at Horrobin car park, next to Rivington Primary School, nearest post code: BL6 7SE.
A walk around Anglezarke.

20TH MARCH

(1) DARWEN/EGERTON LINEAR WALK – 11 Miles
If coming from Bolton, park on the Cross Guns CP Egerton and catch the 9.37am bus to Darwen and alight at the Golden Cup stop (just after the motorway bridge). The walk starts from the Golden Cup at 10.15am. GR 681 246. Cross Guns CP GR707 155.
Walk – Higher Meadowhead Farm, Earnsdale Reservoir, Darwen Tower, Cartridge Hill, Witton Weavers Way, Egerton. Don’t forget your bus pass.

(2) WILTON ESTATE WALK- 8.5 Miles
Cars to: St Margaret’s Road entrance to Heaton Park (small charge £3.00). M25 2GT, GR SD 824 047.
Walk – Rhodes Wood, Alkrington Hall, Blackley Forest, Hidden Gem Café and garden.

(3) PICK A PIE – 4/5 Miles
Meet and park on road between Top and Bottom Barns GR SD 629 140
Walk to Rivington Terraced Gardens and return to Village Green Tearooms for lunch. For lunch please send cheque for £7.50 payable to Bolton HF with choice of pie (meat or cheese and onion) to Eileen Bailey 10 Acre Field, Harwood, Bolton, BL2 3LQ by 13th March.

(4) PICK A PIE – 4 Miles
Meet at the Rivington Hall (top) Barn car park, Rivington. GR SD 633 145; nearby post code: BL6 7SB.
Walk around Rivington and then to Village Green Tea Room for pie and peas, cake and a drink at 12.30. Non-walkers welcome. See Number 3 walk programme for details of payment.

(5) WALLSUCHES – 3 Miles
10.30 am start. George’s Lane, Latham Row, Ridgemont Park, Gingham Brow, Wallsuches. Lunch in Curley’s. 3 million Daffodils, hopefully. Bus 125 available to Jolly Crofters.

27TH MARCH

(1) WORDEN PARK/CROSTON – 11 Miles
Cars to Worden Park main CP, Leyland. GR 542 210.
Walk – River Lostock, Walton, Croston, River Yarrow.

(2) HARROCK HILL CIRCULAR – 8.5 Miles
Park on road near canal bridge at Appley Bridge WN6 9AP, GR SD 781 164
Walk – Leeds Liverpool Canal, edge of Parbold, Harrock Hill, Fairy Glenn, Appley Bridge.

(3) REDISHER WOODS – 7 Miles
MP Summerseat Garden Centre GR SD 789 145 PC BL9 5QS
Walk – Greenmount Golf Course, Two Brooks, Reddisher Woods, Summerseat

(4) DAFFODILS? – 5.5 Miles
Meet at George’s Lane opposite the Jolly Crofters. Please avoid the snack van. GR 659 113; BL6 6RE.
A ramble around Bottom o’ th’ Moor and Ridgmont Park.
