(2) Mere To Mere, A Bird Watching Spectacle? – 7.5 miles
Cars to Mere Sands Wood Visitor Centre, off the B5246 Holmeswood Road, Rufford, L40 1TG. GR SD 447 159. The best and biggest sign is for Mere Sands Kennels, Small charge (£2.00).
Walk – Mere Sands Wood, Rufford Boundary Sandy Way, Tarlscough Lane, Martin Mere Reedbed Walk and return.
(3) Entwistle – 7 miles
Meet at Lower Car Park on Batridge Road, off Green Arms Road, Entwistle, BL7 0NF. GR SD 722 172.
Walk – Cadshaw, Bolton Barn Farm, Bank Wood, Crow Trees Lane. Return.
(4) By The Irwell – 5 miles
Meet by the side of the sewage works before Giant’s Seat Garden Centre on Red Rock Lane. Nearby postcode: M26 1EW. GR 767 046.
