Walk – Middlebrook Trail, King George V playing fields, Heywood Park, Highfield, Cutacre Country Park, Hulton Ln. Playing Fields, Knutshaw Bridge and return.
(2) The Land of Three Fishes but Only 1 This Time – 8 miles
Cars to Spring Wood car park, Whalley. BB7 9DP, GR SD 741 360.
Walk – Whalley Abbey, Whalley Nab, Cock Bridge, Read Hall, Lower Clerk Hill and return.
(3) Around Darwen Moor – 6.5 miles
Meet and park on the public car park at The Royal Arms Tockholes, BB3 0PA.
Walk – Darwen Tower, Darwen Moor, Finger Post, Slipper Lane, Tockholes plantations and return.
(4) Farms and Reservoirs – 5 miles
Meet & park on Dole Lane at The Hare and Hounds, PR6 8DP.
Walk – Farm tracks, Witton Weavers Way, Bradley farm, Shaw farm, Tockholes, Roddlesworth. Some easy climbs.
(5) Doffcocker Lodge – 3 miles
Park and meet in Moss Bank Park, main car park, GRSD 694 109. BL1 6LY.
Walk – from the car park to Doffcocker lodge, around the lodge and return. Lunch optional in Moss Bank Park café.
8th April
(1) Peel Tower – 10.5 miles
Meeting place Barlow Institute, Edgworth BL7 OAP. SD741 166.
Walk – Crowthorn, Peel Tower, Redisher Wood, Range House, Quarlton, Turton Bottoms and return.
(2) Parbold – 8 miles
Cars to The Farmers Arms, Chorley Road, Bispham Green, Parbold, L40 3SL. GR SD 049718 012925.
Walk – Cedar Farm, Harrock Hill, Windmill, Quarry and return.
(3) Lostock Wander – 7.5 miles
Meet at Deane Golf Club car park, BL3 4NS.
Walk – Chew Moor, Regent Park Golf Club, Deane Clough.
(4) A wander around Wayoh and Entwistle – 5 miles
Meet & park at Barlow Institute, BL7 0AP.
Walk – Wayoh, Strawberry Duck etc.
15th April
(1) No Walk
(2) Silverdale – 8 miles
Cars to Silverdale Hotel LA5 0TP, GR SD 46005 74861.
Walk – Silverdale, Crag Foot, Deepdale Wood, Leighton Moss and return.
(3) Winter Hill Wander – 7.5 miles
Meet and park near Curley’s Wallsuches, Horwich, BL6 6PP.
Walk – Snack Shack, Two Lads, TV Mast Pigeon Tower. Some climbs. Refreshments at Snack Shack or Curley’s for those who want refreshments.
(4) Cutacre – 5 miles
Meet & park Cutacre car park. BL5 1BW.
Walk – Rosemary Lane and enjoy the views of Manchester and beyond. A unique country park.
22nd April
(1) Grey Stone and Wind Farm – 10.5 miles
Meeting place Clough Head car park. SD 751 231, BB4 4AT.
Walk – Calf Hey Res. Broadhead, Grey Stone Hill, Height End Farm, Pickup Bank Res. Brewer Lot Farm and return to Clough Head.
(2) Garstang to Calder Vale, a walk with some stiles – 8 miles
Cars to car park at the top of High Street alongside the Riverview building. Charge of £3.80 for the day, PR3 1EF. GR SD 4915 4529.
Walk – Garstang to Greenhalgh Castle then gentle climb and descent to Calder Vale. Return takes in the old Pilling Railway.
(3) RHS Bridgewater – 7 miles
Meet at RHS Bridgewater M28 2LJ. Please ask at the back of the car park away from the visitor centre.
Walk – Bridgewater Canal, Worsley, Old Warke Dam, The Aviary, old railway line to Monton and back along the canal.
(4) Aspull/Borsdane – 5 miles
Meet & park Borsdane car park Mill Lane, left at Gerrard Arms, Aspull, WN2 1QE.
Walk – Exploring Borsdane.
29th April
(1) Town and Country – 10 miles
Meeting place Lancaster Park and Ride immediately at Junction 34 of M6. LA2 9HG. SD 496 643 (bring Bus Pass)
Walk – Park and Ride, Lancaster Town Trail, Williamson Park, Lancaster Canal, River Lune, Park and Ride.
(2) Brinscall – 9 miles
Cars to Lodge Bank Road Brinscall. Park along the road away from the baths. PR6 8QU, GR SD 627 213.
Walk – White Coppice, Heapey, Leeds Liverpool Canal, Johnson’s Locks, Wheelton and return.
(3) Haigh Hall Circular – 6.5 miles
Meet at Red Rock Car Park off Red Rock Lane, Wigan, WN1 2UW.
Walk – Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Fairclough Wood Haugh Lower Plantations, Haigh Woodland Park, returning via canal.
(4) Riding Gate to Bradshaw Fisheries – 5 miles
Meet & park Riding Gate, off Tottington Rd, BL2 4DL.
A walk in the area to the fisheries and Jumbles.
