Number 1 walks start at 10.00am. All other walks start at 10.30 am unless otherwise stated.

1st May

(1) Ilkley Moor – 10.5 miles
Park at Darwin Gardens, Wells Road, Ilkley, LS29 9TF. SE117 471.
Walk – Cow and Calf Rocks, High Lanshaw Dam, Horncliff Well, Golcar Farm, Dick Hudsons (hotel), Twelve Apostles.

(2) Garstang to Calder Vale, A walk with some stiles – 8 miles
Cars to: Car Park at the top of High Street alongside the Riverview building. Charge of £3.50 for the day. PR3 1EF, GR SD 4915 4529.
Walk – Garstang to Greenhalgh Castle then gentle climb and descent to Calder Vale. Return takes in the old Pilling Railway.

(3) Around the Tower – 7.5 miles
Meet & park at Tockholes visitors centre, BB3 0PA. GR 665215.
Walk – Ernside reservoir, Sunnyhurst Woods, Darwen Tower, Darwen Moor, Slipper Lowe and Roddlesworth reservoirs.

(1) The Calf & Cautley Spout – 10.5 miles
Walk – “Dales High Way”, The Calf, Cautley Spout, Cautley Beck, “A Pennine Journey”, Sedbergh.

(2) River Lune Walk – 8.8 miles
Walk – River Rawthey, High Oaks, River Lune, Lune Viaduct, Underwinder, Sedbergh and return.

(3) Sedburgh Circular Walk – 7.5 miles
A circular walk in the area starts at the information centre Sedburgh.

15th May

(1) Walk Around Sabden – 10 miles
Meet at SD 775 380. Car park is on the right-hand side of Clitheroe Road out of Sabden.
Walk – Churn Clough Reservoir, Ratten Clough, Sabden Fold, Stone Fold, Padiham Heights, Robinson Wood, Higher Whins, Parsley Barn.

(2) Hidden Village of Thorpe – 8 miles
Cars to: Park outside the church or Burnsal public CP (£6.00 charge), BD23 6BN or BD23 6BS, GR SE 031 610.
Walk – River Wharfe, Linton Falls, Linton Village, Hidden Village of Thorpe and return.

(3) Horwich Moor – 7 miles
Meet & park behind Blundell Arms, Chorley old Rd, Horwich, BL6 6PY. GR 666112.
Walk – Horwich moor, Burnt Edge, Wilderswood & Knowles farm.

(4) No Walk

(5) Jumbles Walk – 3 miles
Cars to Jumbles car park, off Bradshaw Rd, BL7 9AX.
Walk in the area, around the reservoir, back to the café for an optional lunch. No stiles.


22nd May

(1) Mawdesley Jubliee Trail – 10 miles
Cars to car park opposite Village Hall (park on left) Hurst Green, Mawdesley. L40 2QT. SD 492 150
Walk – Boundaries of Mawdesley Village.

(2) Chadderton Park and Tandle Hills – 7.5 miles
Cars to: Chadderton Hall Park car park, off the B6195 Haigh Lane / Chadderton Hall road, turn at the Pavilion Café, and follow the road down to the car park. OL9 0QB. GR SD 8944 0634.
Walk – Cadderton Park, Manchester-Rochdale canal, Tandle Hills and return.

(3) Hawkshaw & Holcombe Brook – 6.5 miles
Meet & park on street at the junction of Bolton Rd and Hawkshaw lane, Hawkshaw outside the Waggon & Horses, BL8 4JL.
Walk – Higher House farm, Holcombe Hey, Higher Barn, Lower Fold & return.

(1) From Here to Mere – 10 miles
Meet Mere Sands Wood Nature Reserve of B5264, Holmeswood Road. (The best and biggest sign is for Mere Sands Kennels.) Parking charge now £4.50. L40 1TG. SD 447 159.
Walk – Rufford Boundary, Sandy Way, Tarlscough Lane, Brandreth Barn, Crabtree Bridge Farm, L & L canal, Gregson's Bridge, The Farm, Martin Mere reed bed walk and return via Mere Sands wood.

(2) Only 5 Reservoirs! – 9.5 miles
Cars to Hurstwood Picnic Site Car Park. GR SD 883 313 Nearest postcode BB10 3LG.
Walk – Cant Clough, Widdop, Gorple Lower, Gorple Upper and Hurstwood Reservoirs.

(3) Limbrick & Beyond – 7.5 miles
Meet & park Black Horse, Limbrick, PR6 9EE.
Walk – Heapey Fold, Anglezarke, Watermans cottage, White Coppice, Healey Nab and return via canal
